Parachute Fun

When Vienna was born Gypsy gave her a HUGE bag of goodies, all the things in that bag have come in handy and we have been grateful to her many times.

One of the coolest things in the bag was Vienna's very own parachute - she thinks it is soooo great and lots of fun! It has bright colours, makes a great rustling sound and is crazy fun to play with ...

Thanks Aunt Kat

Vienna is so lucky to have clever crafty people in her life! Her very special Aunt Kat made this fantastic portable chair cover for her so that she can sit safely and eat her food ...
MMMmmmm food!

It has a non-slip base on it and extra wide velcro holds it together at the back of the chair.

These photos were taken a while ago and are making me realise that the chair cover is in desperate need of a wash right now! It looks so fresh and clean here! The trick will be to try to time the washing around rainy days and meal times!

Free Baking

One of the Mum's from La Leche League enlisted my help with the baking for her son's allergy free birthday party. The birthday boy and some of his friends have lots of allergies and can't eat the usual birthday party goodies. Anita came over armed with some acceptable packet mixes and I got busy adapting, baking and decorating goodies for the birthday party.

The goodies were gluten free, corn free, egg free and dairy free but came out tasting great. I decorated them using gluten free chocolate, lemon icing (using gluten free icing sugar), coconut and crushed corn syrup free lollipops.

Devun loved his goodies and his 3rd birthday was a success!

I enjoyed the experience but am grateful that I usually don't have to follow such strict guidelines.

Truely Her Mother's Daughter

Vienna is definitely my child!

Today's toys of choice:
* a pink ribbon (liberated from a box of Mum's crafty things)
* a length of green fibre (liberated from the same box last week)
* a pair of shoes
* the knitting Mum is currently doing (while she is doing it!)
* a bag of stuff waiting to be sent to Aunt Kat
* some paper (liberated from the recycling bin)
and finally
* the bottom part of the oven (our oven has a second small oven at the bottom instead of a warming draw

Are these signs for the future crafting, baking Vienna?

I hope so!

Socks

Tiny little socks! They look even smaller next to Daddy's big socks. I love washing on the line on sunny days, getting it hung out in the morning makes me feel like the day is off to a good start. I am loving hanging out all the tiny washing that comes with having a baby, it just looks so sweet on the line and it amazes me that after all these years of everyone around me having babies - I have one too!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Vienna got The Very Hungry Caterpillar for Christmas 2009, she loves to sit with Mummy and read the story, she also loves to MUNCH the caterpillar that came with her book.

At La Leche League we found a GIANT version of this story - I thought it was awesome and Vienna seemed pretty impressed too!

Grocery Shopping

I hate grocery shopping! I hate the time it takes and although I love food (had you guessed?) i resent spending money on it. Usually I manage to convince Ashley to come along and enjoy spending time with him even if it is at the hated supermarket.

Vienna is now a big girl who doesn't have to sit in the baby seats but can sit up at the top of the trolley and supervise the grocery shopping - making sure that we get some capsicums (her favourite) and holding on like the big girl she is! She loves being able to look around and see all the people and woooo them with all her charms.

Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes

In our recent box of goodies from Ashley's cousin in America there were also 3 bags of Reeses Miniature Peanut Butter Cups.

Melinda had recommended that I turn these into cupcakes ... I have seen a number of recipes on the interwebs that use these sweet chocolatey treats but in true Miss Wendy style I decided to freestyle it.

I pulled out that fantastic Edmonds Cookbook Cupcake Recipe and got to adapting it ... I added some peanut butter in when creaming the butter and sugar, added lots of dark cocoa and chopped peanut butter cups.

I frosted them with chocolate frosting and I had seen some cupcake toppers on the interwebs made using peanut butter cups and vanilla frosting so I finished the whole peanut butter and chocolatey goodness off with these.
They were YUMMY, the girls at scrap booking agreed with me and I think that Carrie's family even got to sample some.

Sink Bath

We don't have a bath at our flat and I am crap about filling up the baby bath for Vienna to have a splash around (we have only ever used it a few times), this is pretty mean considering how much she LOVES the water. She showers regularly with Daddy, occasionally with Mummy and goes swimming every week ... but sometimes ... a splash around in the bath is what you need!
Sink baths have gotten more fun since Vienna can sit up, she is happy to sit and splash for ages (with Mummy sitting on a chair watching and getting wet!).

Oreo Cookies

Recently we got a big package in the mail from Ashley's cousin Melinda in America, one of the goodies she sent was a big packet of Oreo cookies. Unfortunately they had had a rough trip and were a bit broken up but they still made for good eating and an idea came to me for using up the crumbs at the bottom of the packet.

I adapted the Edmonds cupcake recipe into a chocolate cupcake and added some crushed Oreos to the batter.

I iced the cupcakes with chocolate and vanilla frosting and added a few more crushed Oreo pieces.

YUMMO! The girls at First Steps Wiri where I was doing a week of relieving work really enjoyed their treat and were amazed that they really tasted like Oreos.
