Cute Food - Nicola's Baby Shower

I was totally inspired by the 'Mini' food theme for my cousin Nicola's baby shower - they couldn't have picked a better theme for me if they had tried!

This is what I came up with and was very pleased with it!

Cute Food - Winnie the Pooh Party

I have been busy making and baking for Paula's granddaughter Sonia-Marie's first birthday party. It has a Winnie-the-Pooh theme which is a first for me.

These cookies are an adaption of the ginger cookies I have been making recently. I swapped out the ground ginger for cinnamin, and the golden syrup for honey. The icing is also honey and cinnamin - unfortunately it isn't honey coloured though.

The honey pot marshmellows have golden sugar sprinkles (from Aussie) and are most cool.
I hope she enjoys munching on these at her birthday today YUM!

Tiny Packets of Bling

Everyone knows that Miss Wendy loves little things - yesterday these little packets of bling arrived in my letter box, they are very very little - just a few centimetres. The bling inside the packets is tiny!

Thanks Kat!

Northland Holiday

For my birthday Ashley took Vienna and I away for a night, we decided to head up North as Ashley hasn't been that way and I wanted to show him what I had seen when I went up to stay with Val and Andrew in 2008. Ashley climbed Tokatoka Point (I had already had the pleasure and wasn't keen to repeat it with a baby to carry), we stopped at Tane Mahuta - the oldest Kauri tree in New Zealand ( @ 2000 years old), spent the night at Opononi Resort, then carried on to Whirinaki and had a lovely visit with Val and Andrew, and lastly carried on to Whangarei to visit Poppa and Margaret.

BIG tree, little girl.

Bush walking baby (and Daddy).

Opononi Beach - so gorgeous, we walked for ages along it.

The view from outside our little unit, back from our walk.

I think we made Poppa's day! He loved meeting Vienna.

We had a most lovely 2 days away.

Why

... does it have a pocket? Her hand doesn't reach to fit in to keep it warm ... she doesn't have anything to keep in there - keys etc ... so why is it there?

Cute Food Tools

New creating tools! Thanks to Fred and Evelyn for providing the $$$$$$$$$$ to purchase these great new tools. They have already had a workout creating the ginger cookies last week. Let me know if you want me to try them out on some cute food for you.

Renee's Pool Party

Renee had a pool party for her birthday this year. Vienna and I went along and had lots of fun! It was Vienna's first swim in a big pool and she LOVED it, she kicked and splashed and wore herself out!

After swimming the girls and Kauri played in the water squirters outside and then we had a yummy lunch and CAKE!!!

Vienna slept through the food and cake, I guess that swim really was tiring!

It looks so weird but Vienna sleeps in her tummy, even in the pushchair!

Gingerlicious

Yesterday afternoon I spent some time watching episodes of Nestle Hottest Home Baker on the interwebs. Then I became inspired! I printed out a recipe for ginger cookies made by one of the contestants and whipped these up, I made a little change by using ground ginger not fresh. The cookies are OK, i probably will make them again, maybe tweak the recipe a little. The contestant iced hers with fondant and royal icing but I did this instead - I made an icing based on ginger crunch icing, pipedit on and topped it with a mini (1.5cm) cookie cut out with my new cookie cutter.

I think they look great, but I need to work on the icing a little as it didn't hold the lovely piped shape - any ideas?
